Habit

Habit

Since the habit is a sign of consecration, poverty and membership in a particular Religious family, I join the Fathers of the Synod in strongly recommending to men and women religious that they wear their proper habit (Pope John Paul II, Vita Consecrata, n.25)

The habit may vary according to the Provinces. It is a cassock with double sleeves and a tippet, black during the week and white on Sundays and holy days. For the liturgy, we add a surplice and a purple mozzetta.
